Event Scheduling Request for a Cornell fundraiser: what to include
The Event Scheduling Request is the form Cornell uses to review a student club's sale or fundraiser. Cornell asks for it at least three weeks before the activity, so it is the first date to put on your calendar.
Here is how to prepare a request that answers the questions reviewers are likely to have. Rules change, so confirm the current requirements with the office named here before you plan around them.
Money never touches Cornell Craves. Students pay the club directly over Venmo or Zelle, and there is no commission or fee.
What to have ready before you open the form
Exactly what you are selling
Cornell says proposals must include actual samples or detailed descriptions of every product. Write the brand, the item, the size and whether it is sealed and pre-packaged by the vendor.
Price and how orders are taken
State the price per item and explain that students pre-order and pay the club directly by Venmo or Zelle. If you use Cornell Craves, say the club posts a listing and hands out orders with QR pickup passes.
Where and when
Give the pickup location, date and time window. If you need a table or outdoor space, note it, since some spaces are booked through Cornell's scheduling system.
Who is selling
Everyone involved in the sale must be a member of the Cornell community. List the student leaders responsible.
Where the money goes
Name your organization and the purpose of the proceeds. If the money supports an outside charity, Cornell requires a letter from that charity saying it knows about and approves the fundraising.
Your vendor
Cornell prefers suppliers in Tompkins County or a process open to local merchants. If you use a national brand, say why and how the product will be packaged.
A simple wording you can adapt
Our registered student organization will sell pre-ordered, vendor-sealed [item] for $[price] each, with pickup at [place] on [date] from [time] to [time]. Students order online and pay the club directly. Net proceeds support [club programs]. We can provide samples or product descriptions on request.
Common reasons requests slow down
Requests slow down when the product is vague, the date is under three weeks away, or the purpose of the proceeds is unclear. Submitting early and answering follow-up questions the same day is the easiest way to keep your date.
Frequently asked questions
What is the Event Scheduling Request at Cornell?
It is the online form Cornell uses to review student organization sales and fundraising activities. It must be submitted at least three weeks before the activity.
Can I run a fundraiser at Cornell without submitting the form?
Cornell's policy says the form is required for a proposed sale or fundraising activity, so submit it and wait for approval before you buy food or announce the sale.
Does Cornell Craves take a cut of the money?
No. Students pay the club directly through Venmo or Zelle. Cornell Craves never handles or holds the money and takes no fee.
Who can use Cornell Craves?
Clubs must be legitimate Cornell student organizations, and new clubs are reviewed before their first drop goes live. Ordering is for current Cornell students with an @cornell.edu Google account. Cornell Craves is an independent student project and is not run or endorsed by Cornell University. It does not replace any Cornell approval, and each club stays responsible for following university and county rules.
